Marianne van Staden is a senior lecturer in Auditing in the Department of Auditing at the university of Pretoria. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant [CA(SA)] and has taught Auditing on the professional degree-programme that provide the academic leg of training as a chartered accountant for twenty two years. She is actively involved in the educational activities of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors. She is co-author of the text book Applied Questions on Auditing which is prescribed by several South African universities at third year and / or honours level. She has published in Meditari and has presented papers at regional conferences of the Southern African Accounting Association. Her research interests include audit quality and accounting education. She is currently part of a research team consisting of academics from different South African universities that is investigating the standing and demand of internal auditing in South Africa.
 
Marianne is the current president of the Southern African Accounting Association and has also served in various other positions of that Association at National and Regional level in the past. Currently she is serving on the editorial board of Meditari.
